Update from Boulder Nordic Sports (Dec)

It’s almost snow time! Various Nordic venues have opened across the Northeast and when the natural snow arrives in force we should have some amazing skiing.

As I am sure most are aware by now the global shortages and supply chain issues have hit the ski industry hard. We order over 1600 pairs of boots a year and we have received 160 or so to date. Ouch. The good news is help is on the way, we will have a significant amount of skate boots arriving over the next two weeks. We already have size runs in different classic boots but more is also coming in the next three weeks. Combi boots are slated for arrival around the first of the year. Stay tuned. We do have a waiting list started, so if you know what you want let us know and we will get you on it. If you don’t know, come on down or give a call and we can help figure it out!

For skis we have an incredible selection of skate skis at all levels. Classic skis are holding out well, especially at the higher end. The entry level classic skis are a bit tougher to fit, but we have some decent stiff ones. Skin skis are holding out with availability, so don’t delay. We do have another small shipment of 50mm metal edge skin touring skis on the way, expected arrival is two weeks. Half of these are pre-sold, so let us know if you want a pair!

Poles we have a great selection in stock, is it time to upgrade to a nicer pole?

All pants and jackets are in, including kids sizes in pants! We have a great selection of performance wool base layers also. Hestra gloves arrive later this week to complete our offerings!

We have the following very lightly used skin skis available to sell. These have all been used under 20 times, the skins are cleaned and the glide zones waxed. Pay attention to weight range on these, as it is crucial to get the right fit. All are mounted with NNN bindings.

From now until Dec. 20th we are running an all cash Hotbox special to benefit Portland Nordic. Portland Nordic is an incredible local organization that gets kids of all ages on skis, helps increase exposure for Nordic here in Southern Maine, and is heavily involved in the grooming(and lights this year) at Riverside Golf Course.  Bring us your skis COMPLETELY CLEANED of all wax and a 20 dollar bill and we will give them a deep bath in our ski oven to re-saturate and rejuvenate them. It is the equivalent of sending your skis to the spa! Normally 35 dollars, now until Dec. 20th it is just 20 dollars cash! We will donate the money to Portland Nordic to help them on their mission! There is a 10 do9llar cleaning fee if we have to clean your messy, dirty or unscraped skis. Don’t be that person. You are better than that.

You can check out Portland Nordic and all they do here: https://www.portlandnordic.org/

Update from Boulder Nordic Sports (Nov)

Ski season is upon us and so are massive shortages as most of you know. I have attached an updated team price sheet for BNS East. All orders must be done through emailing roger (at) bouldernordic (dot) com or calling 207-541-7438
Wax is trickling in, we have a fair amount now and expect more in a few weeks. We do accept school PO’s and can provide payable online invoices for your convenience.
Equipment is trickier. Boots are tough. We have a whole bunch of Combi boots arriving in approximately 3 weeks. We have an ok selection of classic boots now with more arriving daily. Skate boots are lean, but we will have more in three weeks.
We have an incredible stock of all skate skis right now including Fischer RCS that just arrived. Classic is a bit tougher, but we have a complete stock of all sizes and flexes of RCS skis. We especially have some of the shorter sizes and flexes in stock.
We are very lucky to have a great selection of our hand picked skis, Fischer Speedmax for both skate and classic and Rossignol Premium for skate.
Poles will be completely in stock next week. For now we have all our Swix poles. One Way arrives next week.
The ski industry supply chain seems to be more broken than other industries at this time. I have never seen companies completely sold out of all equipment in October before, but here we are. I cannot stress to you enough to get your teams on equipment earlier rather than later. It likely will be all gone later.
Please reach out if we can be of assistance. Thank you.

Races at Stark’s Hill, Fryeburg

If you are driving your skier to the race this week, you’ll need to get to Stark’s Hill.

Like Pineland, it is a gorgeous spot.  But it can be quite confusing.  Here are a few tips.

  • Use 98 Fair St, Fryeburg ME 04037 since the venue has no actual address on Quarry Road.
  • Make sure your skier is in WARM LAYERS and their best boots. There is no indoor space AND they’ll need to walk 1/4 to 1/2 mile to get to the site from where they permit you to park.
  • Pre-load your directions as the service on the way to Fryeburg is very spotty and almost non-existent at the race site.

Go FLYERS!
